Roosevelt Senior High School in DC has proven to be the first Shining Star of the 07/08 School Year! When we initially met with Dr. Benjamin Hosch, Principal of Roosevelt Senior High School after their purchase of the CAASS system in May of 2007. At that time he told us that he planned to start using the CAASS System at the beginning of the 07/08 school year. After scheduling conflicts, training was completed in late August. To start using the CAASS System in September, Roosevelt Senior High School had created a very aggressive timeline. Yet, when we visited the school several weeks ago for a follow-up, every student not only possessed an ID card but was scanning upon entry in the morning.
Roosevelt took the initiative and amazed us with their dedication and passion towards the system. The CAASS Software is only as good as the team implementing it, and Roosevelt has shined true!
Trenton Central High School West (TCHW) is a new user of the CAASS System. They have only been scanning students for a couple of weeks and are already making use of the CAASS Letters module to produce letters that are mailed to the guardian's of tardy students. TCHW is the first school in Trenton to go live with the CAASS System. Besides TCHW, five other schools in the Trenton City School District have the CAASS System and are in the beginning stages of implementation. Thank you to TCHW and Ms. Hope Witter, Principal, for getting a leg up on the other schools in Trenton and already utilizing CAASS in her school and congratulations on being this month’s Shining Star!
Bell has been utilizing CAASS to its fullest potential since March of 2006 and is currently running 4 ScanStations. Bell takes a proactive approach to minimize altercations in the morning by using 2 separate entrances for morning scanning, the 9th and 10th grade entrance and the 11th and 12th grade entrance. They also use EDCR and Hallway Manager every day to manage classroom attendance and discipline. CAASS reports are also used on a daily basis to gather student information and data. In addition, Ms. Maria Tukeva, principal, saw a need for a demerit system at Bell and recommended adding merits and demerits to our system, which is in the final stages of development. Thanks to Bell and Ms. Maria Tukeva, principal, for utilizing CAASS to its fullest and being this month’s Shining Star!
Bell shares a building with Lincoln Middle school which has just begun to use CAASS. The leadership of Bell has been very helpful to Lincoln in its beginning stages of using CAASS.
When informed of the designation Ms. Maria Tukeva, Principal, responded by saying, "Thank you for this designation. We are proud and happy to have been able to use this technology in such a way that it supports learning and a positive climate."
